Key Points on Routine inspections on grab parts

The grabs currently on the market can be divided into light, medium and heavy grabs according to the weight of the material they are applied to handle.

 

When using the grab bucket for work, first of all, different types should be selected according to the difference in lifting weight and the loading and unloading of cargo.

Secondly, in the process of work, due to frequent lifting work, the grab quickly falls and the material collides violently, which easily leads to damage, so it is necessary to strengthen the inspection idea and make it a routine to check on the grab parts.


The specific inspection content is as follows:

 

1. Cutting edge inspection. Because the cutting edge material is made of high-manganese steel, it is easy to produce brittle cracks when the welding process is poor. Each shift is required to inspect on it, and once cracks be noticed, the grab shall be not used, and repaired or replaced to prevent the occurrence of damage caused by flying pieces.

 

 

2. Check if the hinge is worn. Hinge pin shafts are generally inspected once every half a month. Pin shaft wearing exceed 10% of the original diameter, or bushing wearing exceed 20% of the original thickness, shall be upgraded.

3. When the grab is closed, the misalignment between the two horizontal and vertical edges and the gap between the contact points of the bucket should not be greater than 3mm, and the length of the maximum gap should not be greater than 200mm.

 

 

4. After the grab is opened, the non-parallel difference of the mouth should not exceed 20mm.

5. After the grab is lifted, whether the grab in open or closed status, the symmetry centerline of the bucket mouth and the vertical centerline of the grab should be in the same vertical side, and the deviation should not exceed 20mm.

 

6. The wear of the pulley and wire rope on the grab should be checked and assured within the allowable range.
